Another movie I won’t see.

10 September 2008

As far as I can tell, this movie is about teaching Michael [Moore] the “true meaning of patriotism.” From the prieview, it would appear that patriotism means listening to country music, not asking questions of conservative political leaders, and accepting that all Muslims are terrorists.

Great job. It stars Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Trace Adkins, and Chris Farley’s brother in the lead role.

I think this screen sums it up best: JFK, General Patton, and Bill O’Reilly, three guys you would expect to find hanging out together in an outhouse.

Disaster is a relative term

I’m sure you’ve seen this blog by now. As someone who primarily works in Photoshop, I find humor in seeing big budgets wasted on poor talent. But sometimes, this blog pisses me off. The point of Photoshop is to alter photos. I mean, it fucking says it in the name. Often on this site, I see things with no obvious flaw, in fact, actual great Photoshop jobs meant to bend reality, being ridiculed for doing so.

Give me more of the phantom hands floating in space, or the reflections that don’t match. I want to see the careless mistakes, not questionable art direction choices. If your blog is called Photoshop Disasters, please only show Photoshop disasters. What would MTV be without all the fine music videos they show all day long?

BTW: Do you think they intentionally used the 3 letter Photoshop file extension (psd) for their mast-head, or was it a happy accident?

Another Reason to use GrandCentral

I have before said how cool I think this service is, and I found yet another feature I like.

You can set GC to screen callers that have private numbers. You think you’re better than me? BLOCKED!

Of course, I assume, callers can give their name, so when the call rings through to my phone, I can either chose to answer, or send the call to voicemail. There’s also mad powerful spam protection, which is good, since telemarketers seem to ignore the National Do Not Call Registry.

There’s been a lot of work coming out of the Factory™ in the last few weeks, which means a lot of late nights. Last night, I was on my way home from work when I was pulled over for a broken headlight. The officer looked at me and thought I was on drugs.

I looked like this, it was 11.30 and I told him I was just leaving work, apparently taking an odd route back to where I lived. I’m sure it all looked very suspect. He didn’t believe me at first that I was just really tired, but let me go with a warning after checking my eyes more closely.

I wonder if this is somewhat common among people in the industry.

Art reflects…something.

From New York Times:

President Drops in on ‘Deal or No Deal’

That night, the NBC game show bore an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Weitz’s satirical film “American Dreamz.” In both the television show and the movie, a president with low approval ratings decides to appear on a popular reality show. In the film, which was released on April 21, 2006, Dennis Quaid played the commander in chief. On the game show, aired on April 21, 2008, President Bush played himself.

Mr. Bush was not lucky for NBC, either, as the “Deal or No Deal” episode delivered 10 million viewers, matching its lowest Monday time slot rating.

Hmm?
